We're helping children learn about good food and creating healthy eating habits."
Lions Cub nursery recognises the importance of a healthy diet in small children which is why we provide a well balanced, nutritional menu designed by top quality chefs and using the new Government guidelines ‘Eat Better, Start Better’.
All our meals and snacks are included in our fees giving our children the opportunity to sample new and exciting dishes they may not have experienced before. From an early age our children are encourage to make their own choices, serve themselves and be social during meal times.
Our older children are provided with a breakfast bar stocked with a variety of healthy, nutritional choices allowing them to be proactive in their health and well being. Younger children are also given the opportunity to make their own choices by using visual signs.
Our snack cafe gives our older children the freedom to choose when they would like their snack within the session and a varied choice to have. Children are provided with healthy snacks, for example fresh fruit, vegetable sticks and dips, crackers and cheese, etc.
Fresh drinking water is available throughout the day.
All our children sit together during lunch and tea times allowing us to focus more on the social side of meal times they are also encouraged and supported to serve themselves. All our meals are prepared freshly onsite using locally sourced ingredients.
We have a small garden area where the children enjoy growning their own vegatables and plants. The children take great pride in watering and watching their plants grow and the picking the vegetables giving them to the cook to be put in to our lunch.
We are taking part in PhunkyFoods which is an award winning early years and primary school programme of healthy lifestyle curriculum activities.
We will work in partnership with parents when their baby is ready to be introduced to solid foods. All our meals are freshly prepared and are pureed to the required consistence.
We understand that some children may have food allergies, intolerances or other dietary requirements and in these cases we consult with the parents to cater for individual needs.
